The problem with most Americans is, they dont know how to try something new. Most people see something in Japanese and automatically turn to something else due to their inability to understand it directly. This is unfortunate and can cause problems in younger generations, such as in my life where I am allways questioned and critisized for my love of Japan, their music, and anime of course. I dont blame them, they all just assume that they will never understand, so they wont listen.
One day in school I was reading manga (anime in a book), and these boys sarted picking on me about it, and took my book. People just don't understand that there are other things in the world than crappy cartoons they play on saturday night, and american pop singers that only sing about s*x and beating their many wifes; frankly, if a man beat me, I don't think i would accpet the apology. So, is it really so bad to like things that aren't you're culture/heritage? I'm Greek, Sweedish, Scottish and American and I like Japanese things more than things that come from my culture/heritage.
